Merrill is a Toronto Metropolitan University (BCom) alumna.
While at TMU, Merrill excelled in both academics and at placements. Through co-ops at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), Voilà by Sobeys, and Toyota Canada, she sharpened her analytical skills and more importantly, further discovered her love for connecting with people. Her academic rigour and involvement in student life earned her a spot on the Dean’s List for four consecutive years as well as recognition as one of the top 10% most engaged students in her cohort.
However, Merrill’s commitment to learning extended beyond the classroom. In 2023, she graduated from TMU’s Top 200 program, a two-year experiential learning program that accepts only the university’s most accomplished business students. The program’s focus on ethical leadership and professional development was a great experience that prepared her with the skills to be a future leader.
Merrill has a passion for giving back to her community. From age 13 to 18, she volunteered at the Safehaven Project for Community Living, a not-for-profit that provides care to children and other individuals with disabilities. In university, she acted as the 2nd Vice President of the Toronto Metropolitan Campus Lions Club, organizing fundraisers and events for local charities.
Inspired by upper-year finance courses and the desire to combine her love of people and finance, she became motivated to pursue a career in financial planning. Currently, Merrill is working toward earning her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, driven to help clients feel informed and in control of their finances and lives.
