Cynthia is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP – awarded the Fellow of FPSC distinction), a Registered Financial Planner (RFP) and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B Comm) from the University of British Columbia.
She has been practicing accounting and tax since 1984, with a focus on financial planning since 1990. Her clients include business owners, professionals, executives, families and retirees.
Previously a Director on the Board of the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC – Canada), Cynthia continues to serve as a volunteer of FPSC’s various committees. She has been a speaker at national and international financial planning conferences for the FPSC, the Canadian Institute for Financial Planners and the Financial Planning Association of Australia.
Cynthia serves on the editorial board for Rogers Communications’ Advisors Group publications, whose primary audience is the financial advisory community. She is a member of the “Ask an Expert” panel for Canadian MoneySaver, a financial publication for print and online subscribers. Cynthia was the host and primary advisor for Money Makeover, a program produced for Global TV. She is frequently interviewed for financial articles and television programs.
A founding Legacy Advisor for the SickKids Charitable Giving Fund, Cynthia established the Kett Family Donor-Advised Fund in 2007. She also volunteers as a speaker and writer to selected non-profit organizations in the educational, health and financial fields.
